Suggested Intinery: 10:00am meet Chef Ze outside Olhao traditional fish and vegetable markets on the sea front by Café Gelvi. First enjoy coffee and home-made pastel de nata in the café, which has been there since the markets were first built over 50 years ago. 10:45 first a visit to the stall of Diamantino in the vegetable market. Ze has been using him for his locally grown produce for the last 30 or more years. He only sells seasonal fruit and vegetables. We will create this month’s cataplana around the current season 11:00 we then visit the fish market where more than 50 stalls are selling locally caught and landed fish. You will go between the stalls and find the best and freshest catch. Ze will show you what to look for when shopping for fish and explain all the different varieties to you, with his knowledge acquired over 40 years of being a chef. You will then travel to your house and start to prepare the meal. Ze will show you how to prepare the fish and meat for the meal and then cook the amazing food in front of you while you enjoy a glass of Muscatel, a typical local aperitif from the Setubal region. The cooking will take approximately 45 minutes when you will be ready to sit down and eat with Ze enjoying wine that Ze has paired with the dish, with details of the wine region he has chosen, and why. Ze and his sous chef will leave your kitchen after the meal just as he found it. He will also leave you a laminated recipe card for you to try when you feel adventurous. If you prefer, we can make the meal for you in the evening arriving at your house at 7pm to eat about 8:30 The cost is 130 euros per person, with a minimum of 4 people, including all food and wine paid three days in full in advance by transfer ,details of which are given at the time of reservation.
